Nevis is a town of 390 inhabitants in north central Minnesota and the home of Riley Hanson, one of two freshman on the perennial power Concordia Golden Bears volleyball team.
Hanson described why she chose the St. Paul school for volleyball. "I just loved everything about it," she said.
She also stated what it was like playing for the Golden Bears head coach Brady Starkey.
"Amazing. He knows his stuff. I have the utmost respect for him."
Hanson mentioned about making the adjustment from high school to Division II collegiate volleyball. She said the pace of the game is a lot faster and at as higher level. "On your game and ready to go."
From the time Hanson started playing volleyball until she graduated from high school, she was coached by her mom Stephanie. "It was really a blessing," she said.
According to Hanson, her most memorable high school moment was playing in the 2011 Class A championship game against Bethlehem Academy. More memorable moments could be on the way for Hanson as a Golden Bear.
