Hannity: Auto industry would have been better bankrupt instead of bailed out

With the recent controversial Chrysler  commercial featuring Clint Eastwood getting a lot of attention, it was only a matter of time that all eyes returned to the motor city, Detroit in Michigan. While the American auto industry with GM and Chrysler  are back on its feet, making profits and putting people back to work, not everyone is happy about it.

Over at Fox News, Sean Hannity wasn't that happy with the fact that Michigan is starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. While discussing the auto bailout with his panel, Hannity claimed that it didn't make any difference and only added to the debt.
Sean Hannity: "All of this would have happened if they just follow bankruptcy and the laws of the land. We didn't need the government bailout, we would have ended up in the same place."

Hannity went on to claim that because of President Obama, the United States has lost 2 million jobs and has added $5 trillion to the debt. While the numbers are close they are misleading. 1.7 million jobs have technically been lost, but the majority of those were lost during the first year that President Obama was in office while he was dealing with the heart of the Bush recession. In the last 23 months, there has been consecutive private sector job growth creating over 3 million jobs. After the financial crises of 2008, the following year was poised to be difficult. However, even after a Republican filibuster in congress, President Obama was able to pass enough of his policies to get the country on the right track. In 2010, the economy created 940,000 jobs and in 2011 there were 1.6 million jobs created. Unemployment has dropped to 8.3%, the lowest in three years and has been reduced for five straight months. Unemployment in Michigan has seen a dramatic drop in unemployment since President Obama took office. During President Obama's first full month of office, February 2009, unemployment in Michigan stood at 12%. As of February 2012, Michigan unemployment is down to 9.3%, the lowest since September 2008. The sharp fall in unemployment has to do with many factors, including the stimulus package, but the main reason was the "bailout" that saved the American auto industry.

While Fox News and conservatives on the right struggle to find news ways to turn positive news into negative, the American people are seeing a change in America. The financial destruction of America brought on by deregulation, two unfunded wars and tax cuts for the wealthy put the country on a tough road, but it's refreshing to see positive change, despite what some might say.
