It's shaping up to be a great weekend to get the kids out to enjoy some good, green fun!

The 5th Annual Hannaford Kidz Expo will be held this Saturday, March 7 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. The event runs from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, admission is free.

In addition to the usual performances, exhibits and excitement, this years event will also offer an array of green learning experiences for the kiddos.

Meeting Room 3 - "Every Day is Earth Day with DEC"
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will have craft activities running throughout the day. The schedule includes visits from Smokey Bear, K-9 Detective & rehabilitated wildlife. Other topics include the importance of recycling and caring for our environment

Meeting Room 4 - "NYSERDA's Energy Classroom"
New York State Energy Research and Development Authority presents:
10:00, 12:30, 3:00, 4:30 - What Am I? Test Your Energy IQ
10:30, 2:00 - Hydrogen Fuel Cell Model Car
11:00, 2:30 - Learn to Cook Using Solar Energy
11:30, 1:00, 3:30 - Learn to Convert Energy from the Sun and Wind
12:00, 1:30, 4:00 - Climate Change Experiment

If the little ones get hungry, don't worry. You're sure to find something for every palate at the Kidz Kafe, featuring fried dough, pizza, ice cream, kettle corn and fudge. In keeping with the green theme, don't forget to stop by the Honest Weight Food Co-op stand for some extra special, healthy offerings!

Hannaford will be giving away environmentally-friendly, reusable tote bags.  Pick yours up on the way in to help carry any trinkets you gather along the way.
