Hangout Music Festival recap day 3; last day of music with Outkast, Avett Bros.

The last day of Hangout Music Festival was a few degrees hotter, and the bands that performed on Sunday (May 18) kept up with the temperature. On the final day of the sunny, laid-back, and most of all, fun festival, the performers closed out the final day with a reggae-infused vibe with the calming and smart, SOJA, led by singer and guitar player, Jacob Hemphill. SOJA's music is filled with encouraging and positive lyrics. The band is based in Arlington, Virginia. Classically trained piano-player, Tom Odell, who also hails from England, played a vivid and emotionally stripped set of his emphatic tunes. Another London outfit, rock group Bastille had a wide turnout with their set. Living legends who inspired over three decades of rock music, Los Lobos took the Palladia stage. They still rock!

Closing out the evening were Concord, North Carolina natives, blend a cohesive sound of rock, bluegrass and country, had the most engaged fan base of singing along and jamming with the band. Breezy and beachy, Jack Johnson also took the stage for the most apt setting for his music, and of course, the last act was the lively and witty, rap/hip-hop duo, Outkast.
