Hangout Music Festival recap day 2; NeedtoBreathe, The Black Cadillacs, etc.

The second day of Hangout Music Festival, May 17, saw another day filled with more festival-goers soaking up the sun, surf, and more musical goodness. Closing out the evening was The Killers, who performed several of their hits from their debut album, Hot Fuss, among others. Their positive lyrics make for a rather encouraging musical experience, where you can't help but sing along and "smile like you mean it" the entire time. Other notable performances included The Black Cadillacs, who have endless amount of energy, making for a fantastic show. NeedtoBreathe hit the Hangout Stage, and gave a Carolina-style performance of their songs from their previous albums, including ones from their newest album, Rivers in the Wasteland. They brought back the mid-day slump with their infectious set.

Playing the BMI stage and starting the day off right was Utah-based, Desert Noises, whose earthy sounds make for a nice, beach-infused atmosphere. Later in the day, Modest Mouse, who were relaxed but on their game, dressing the part as well; aptly suited in their swim shorts and other relaxed wear. Other highlights included The Flaming Lips, whose new-themed show is becoming a staple among die-hard and new fans. Additional artists included the blues and folk-tinged Amos Lee, and the always incredible, rock band Moon Taxi who performed two sets, and never fail to give a powerful, raw performance.
