These hair clip trees were made from the disposable strips from Home Depot. The Behr paint company has paint chips to use on their floor paint, these are sold with disposable hanging strips to hang on the side of the shelves. These clips are easy to re-purpose into decorative hangers for hair clips and barrettes.
With simple tools and supplies these clips are a easy gift idea. You will need the clip strips, ask at your local store or paint department. You will need a small hole punch, short length of wire and cutters, ribbon and an assortment of silk flowers. Holiday sprays or summery collections can make a variety of nice decorations.
Start by punching two holes at least 1 inch apart in the square top piece, designed for the price label. Thread the wire through the holes with the ends coming to the front side. If you want to have streamers of ribbon, cut a few short pieces, folding to find the middle, lay them across the two holes and twist the wire to secure the ribbon. Cut the flowers so they are able to be arranged in a small spray, tie them down with the same wire, cut the ends of the wire with a little length so the sharp ends can be bent back into the arrangement and safe from poking into fingers. If the clip strip has a hole at the bottom end, a small length of ribbon can be folded and pushed through the hole, then thread the ends through the middle loop and tighten.
These beautiful strips can be used to organize your barrettes by your bedroom dresser, next to your bathroom mirror or any place you want to organize your hair accessories.
