Handling Michigan snow, without forfeiting styling or performance

It's January 20, and snow has just started to fall in the Detroit Metro area.  The snow is being trampled into ice, and driving on the local roads has quickly turned to a stand still.

So, what to drive to safely handle these Michigan winters is the question on everybody's mind, and, luckily for them, Subaru has the answer.

Subaru's 2012 Impreza WRX STI is the perfect car for all occasions.  The STI provides reliabilty in the winter months without compromising looks or performance, unlike most other car manufacturers.

The STI comes standard with a symmetrical all-wheel drive design which provides a comfortable balance of power between all the wheels at the same time.  Unlike other manufacturers, who start with a front wheel or rear wheel design and then simply add more components to provide power to the other wheels, Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive design provides power to all the wheels without having to detect the loss of traction.

This all-wheel drive system, coupled with the 4-piston front and 2-piston rear BREMBO brakes, provides for excellent handling in rain, snow, slush and ice, and can even power the car through thick patches of snow, without risking the possiblity of getting stuck.

The 2012 STI also features the famous Subaru BOXER engine,  horizontally-opposed turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with variable camshaft timing, that provides 305 hp @ 6000 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque @ 4000 rpm.  This will propel the STI from 0-60 in a whopping 5.3 seconds.

The STI comes with the option of 7 different paint schemes, and in all intents and purposes, is considered a racecar.  It has very dramatically styled fendors, and a huge racing spoiler that just screams "look at me".  Besides being pleasing to the eyes, the spoiler is also functional at high speeds where it helps to reduce drag and rear lift.  The spoiler, curves and fendors, coupled with the funtional hood scoop really give the STI the push it needs to be the stand out car this winter.

The STI starts at just over $34,000, so, if your not willing to forfeit stunning styling and performance for safety and reliability this winter, then the Subaru Impreza WRX STI is the car for you.
