The set of the E! network show “Chelsea Lately” was just a tad bit awkward during a Jan. Handler, Morgan fight, according to a Jan. 31 report in the International Business Times. Chelsea Handler and her guest Morgan Piers got into an argument as soon he sat down on the E! set on Jan. 30. What looked like playful banter between two friends just grew into a long awkward moment for viewers.
After taking his seat, the two engaged in playful conversation with Handler teasingly asking Piers what he was looking at. Morgan, assuming he was being equally funny, gave her a compliment, but not really. “Well, you've either had plastic surgery or a makeover, because you look really hot today,” he told her.
Not one to be insulted, Chandler exclaimed, “Oh, you're so annoying. You're so obnoxious -- you wonder why everybody hates you! I specifically covered up so you couldn't look at me and undress me with your molester eyes.”
Morgan has been taking some public heat and anger lately for his anti-gun stance following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
The duo’s bantering continued with Morgan making reference to Handler’s love for booze. “Normally when I come on the show you're really hung over in a very unprofessional way,” he quipped. Both Handler and Morgan continued the back and forth on who was a better host, until Handler concluded with “You can suck my a**. I mean, really.”
Their awkward conversation overshadowed the real reason Piers was on the show; to promote his own show, but since both of them are professionals, one can only assume that this was a planned skit.
