Hampton Roads’ residents can choose to start celebrating Easter on Saturday, April 12 with music, drama and egg hunts. The Kempsville Christian Church will present Lift Him Up at 7 pm. Admission is free and seating is available on a first come, first served basis. This ninety minute production begins with creation, fast forwards to the birth of the Christ child and finishes with the second coming.
“Seeing it four years ago touched my heart,” says Charlie Edwards. “It was inspiring. I felt like I was right there.” Edwards has joined the cast for this year’s show and shares that “even from the back row, it is good.”
The church is located at 5424 Parliament Dr. in Virginia Beach, VA. Additional performances are on April 13th, 18th, 19th, and 20th at 7:00 PM. For more information call 490-3925.
Another large cast production, the West Park Church of Christ’s Passion-Believe, opens on April 13 at 7:00 PM. The show walks the audience as eyewitnesses through the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This Portsmouth church is located on 926 Cherokee Road. No tickets are necessary but sponsors advise the audience to come early for the best seating for this free performance. The show runs additional evenings and has one afternoon performance on Saturday, April 19th at 2:00 PM.
The Landstown Common Shopping Center in Virginia Beach will play host to an Easter egg hunt and kids' safety day from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Besides finding eggs, children and adults can visit with the Easter Bunny, bounce in inflatables, meet Miss Virginia and enjoy music with DJ Silver.
