Hampshire Illinois coyotes; Coyote - Scientific name ‘Canis latrans’.
"... the noise will have that pleasant sound coyotes make on a very cold night when they are out in the snow and you are in your own cabin that you have built or paid for with your work.”~Ernest Hemingway
If you watch the video, you will see that a coyote's appearance is similar to a dog, conceivably a German shepherd. The coyote in the video is pouncing and moving like a puppy at play, but she isn’t playing. When it comes to hunting for a daily meal, this dance is a part of a normal life for a coyote. If she can’t catch her food, she will die.
Think about it! She can’t walk into a local store and maneuver a shopping cart around, then pay with a debit card from her Coyote ©Prairie Wolf Card. She has to catch her meals. Her main diet is comprised of rabbit, squirrels, mice, and rats.
The coyote keeps her tail low, below the line of its back. At times, you can see how the tail is puffed out similar to a fox’s tail. A Coyotes bushy tail if held horizontally can be a sign of aggression.
She pounces and dances sideways with short leaps. Then, she cocks her head and listens, as the rodent tries to escape by diving out of sight and under thick grass. A hunting coyote can keep the rodent population down. Keep in mind that rodents cause enormous problems to homeowners.

A coyote’s coloring blends in with field grass colors; browns –beiges-dull-yellows with some black and white. A coyote can have a pinkish-yellow underside splodged with the colors of the season. In the winter, their fur is lighter more white and beige to match the dried grass mixed within white snow.
Coyotes will use their urine to mark their hunting ground. Humans can use the same trick to keep coyotes away from your house. -Works well against raccoons, too.-
If you are ever scratched or bitten by a coyote seek medical attention immediately!
