“To be or not to be? That is the question.” These words are known to almost everyone around the world. How fitting that the answer to the famous question is “to be.” For what is “to be” is a world tour in celebration of the 450th anniversary of the birth of the writer of these words, William Shakespeare. The Shakespeare’s Globe has begun a two-year trek around the world with plans to perform Hamlet in every country. The tour is fitting for the writer they are honoring, for it was William Shakespeare’s desire to travel to share his work. According to Director Peter Brook, Hamlet is the perfect choice for this adventure as “…Hamlet is the most all-encompassing of Shakespeare’s plays. Everyone young or old can today find an immediate identification with its characters, their plans and their interrogations.” More about the tour can be found on http://globetoglobe.shakespearesglobe.com/hamlet/about-the-project.
