The “Hamburg Bach” - 300 years Carl Philip Emanuel Bach
Hamburg will join five other German cities in celebrating the 300th birthday of Carl Philip Emanuel Bach (Johann Sebastian’s 2nd oldest and just as talented son). The composer's life will be celebrated in various places throughout Germany where he grew up at and will be highlighted with musical performances and special events. First International Music Festival Hamburg
May 09 – June 15, 2014
Hamburg will be presenting the first International Music Festival with a number of outstanding concerts scheduled. Among the featured concerts will be classical music, operas, jazz and world music. The concerts will be performed by local and visiting orchestras and feature outstanding performances by Anna Netrebko, Maria Joao Pires, Anoushka Shankar and many other great performing artists. Twelve Michelin Gourmet Stars for Hamburg in 2014
For those looking for some great cuisine and fine dining, then Hamburg is the place to be. The renowned Michelin Guide has awarded 12 stars to Hamburg’s top restaurants that include three 2-star restaurants. Two stars were awarded to Haerlin and Chef Christoph Rüffer, Chef Thomas Martin of Jacobs Restaurant and Süllwerk Seven Seas specializing in classical French cuisine.
More Hotels scheduled to open in 2014
More hotels are scheduled to open in 2014. Presently, there are some 302 hotels not including guest houses or inns.
The new four-star Indigo Hamburg St. Pauli is scheduled to open in June 2014. The new hotel is six stories high and will feature individually designed rooms. Each floor is designed to depict a certain era beginning from the 1950's all the way to 2000.
Also scheduled to open this summer is the four-star Ameron Hotel Speicherstadt. It will be the first hotel to be built in the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district in Hamburg. The hotel will feature 192 rooms and 8 junior suites. Guests can experience a great view of the famous Speicherstadt district from the hotel's terrace.
