The Hamburg Strand is the little theater that could. The 90 year old movie theater has just opened after a hiatus to update the heatng system.
The Strand has been a landmark in Hamburg for decades. They feature a fresh movie each week and general admission has just been lowered to jus $3.00 a ticket. On their website they also offer a snack deal that includes popcorn and a soda for $4.00. Prices like that enable families to enjoy a fun evening out together.
Owner Bill Rhodes purchased the theater with a vision to create a cultural center for the town. Smart Choice Auto Sales announced on WEEU radio that they will be hosting free movies at the Strand on Wednesday nights.
The theater is so much more than movies.
Theater Rental
Several years ago the Strand added a 500 square foot stage to the theater complete with a sound and lightening system. They have been the venue for theater company productions, churches, dance studios and bands. The theater is open for use seven days a week and comfortably seats 198. They also offer design and printing services for custom backdrops. Groups needing a theater should contact them for availability and pricing.
Party Room
The newly remodeled party room at the Strand is a great place for birthdays and other special events. Patrons can bring their favorite DVD and have it played on the big screen for their guests. Clubs can host their end of the year banquets and play a video of the highlights of their year for parents, siblings and guests. One scout troop held their Blue and Gold Banquet at the Strand and the boys loved the hot dogs, popcorn and seeing themselves on the big screen.
