Microsoft announced Tuesday that the Windows 8 PC and mobile title, Halo: Spartan Assault will be making the leap to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 later this year and will bring co-op multiplayer with it.
Halo: Spartan Assault will be released as a downloadable title this December for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 and will include the 30-mission single-player campaign plus the Operation Hydra add-on that was released for Windows 8. An all-new online co-op multiplayer component is also being added.
For those that don't know, Halo: Spartan Assault is developed by Vanguard Games under the direction of 343 Industries and is a top-down, twin stick shooter set between the events in Halo 3 and Halo 4. Players take on the roles of Spartan IV Sarah Palmer and Spartan Davis in an effort to prevent Covenant forces from getting their hands on deadly Forerunner technology.
We reviewed Spartan Assault on a Windows 8 PC and found it to be an enjoyable side-story set in the Halo universe with its bite-sized missions and colorful graphics. However, the inclusion of micro-transactions in order to upgrade armor was frustrating.
