United Kingdom sources reporting to industry mega site Computer And Video Games reveal a September release date for Bungie's final body of Halo work, Halo: Reach.
Microsoft has reportedly penciled in a September 14 release date for the prequel, leaving it two months clear of Call of Duty 7's expected November release time frame.
"It gives Halo enough time to maximise sales before CoD arrives," said one senior trade source. "Xbox 360 is pretty synonymous with Call Of Duty, so it makes commercial sense for Microsoft and Activision to agree both games won't come out too close to one another."
A multiplayer beta for the game begins May 3 for owners of Halo 3: ODST where Bungie plans to test out the game's wealth of new and exciting features.
