It's that time again to see what the minds at 343 Industries are preparing for us in next week's "Halo 4" matchmaking update. The Halo Bulletin posted yesterday Mar. 6, along with a little redesign for the bulletin, featured an interview with the author of the Halo Forerunner trilogy, Greg Bear, as well as a new playlist that 343i will be featured on Monday, Mar. 11 called Team Action Sack.
Andy "Bravo" Dudynsky came by to give us some details on Team Action Sack which is considered to be an alternative playlist to experience unique game types that are not part of any current playlist. Some of the playlists were named like Binary Slayer, Rockets & Rails, Team Fiesta, and Lightning CTF (Capture the Flag).
- Binary Slayer - If you haven't seen the IGN video showing this game type off, the game features decreased gravity so what you jump it's very high and you don't land right away. The loadout is a Binary Rifle and a Sword with no weapon drops and the only armor ability is a unlimited Thurster Pack. It's designed for larger maps like Ragnarok but the Thruster Pack provides quick ways for players to get around the map.
- Rockets & Rails - Title says it all, except it doesn't say there are Jet Packs as well! Air bound targets be wary, you might be used as a clay shoot target. Pull!
- Lightning CTF - Light Rifles and one shot kills (on any part of the body) will be the main part of this game type, but don't worry because the flag will be able to be returned on touch (no death crawling the flag to the capture point). To make it more challenging it will also feature no motion radar and a five second respawn timer and to make it a little more interesting, the flag carrier will keep the Light Rifle while holding to flag giving you the chance to literally be a one man wrecking crew.
- Team Fiesta - Any players of previous Halo titles (except "Halo Reach") will remember the fiesta playlist. Team Fiesta is a slayer game with random starting weapons giving you a chance to start out on a really great note or a very bad note.
Bravo has said in the bulletin that 343i is working on adding more game types for the playlist that may be added Monday, but if not will be added in later weeks. The full details on all available gametypes in the playlist will be posted on the day they are released. As always, be sure to leave your feedback in the War Games feedback section on the Waypoint forums to give 343i more insight and how to tweak the playlists better.
343i has said in the near future they will be winding down the releasing of new playlists to focus more on improving the existing playlists, but for now they have done a great job adding some variety into the matchmaking playlist settings.
