343 Industries confirmed Wednesday that Grifball, the greatest online sport in the "Halo" universe, will finally receive its own multiplayer playlist next week. There are also two more Specializations that will be unlocked for everyone in the Xbox 360 shooter.

Grifball is played with a ball / bomb and teams of four wielding Gravity Hammers or Energy Swords fighting to plant the bomb at the opposing team's spawn point. It started out as lark in "Halo 3" based on a "Red vs Blue" episode before catching on and becoming one of the most played custom gametypes.

The "Halo 4" Grifball playlist will feature different variations on the basic gametype and also new courts to play on. Playlists have been dropped and added fairly regularly but 343 hopes to make this more sporting playlist a regular.

Also coming are unlocks for the Engineer and Stalker Specializations for "Halo 4".

Engineer: Spartan optimization for the subversion, repair and reconstitution of a wide range of technology, including Covenant and Forerunner complex networks. The Drop Recon Armor Mod allows users to predict the location and time of an Ordnance Drop through an external suborbital monitoring system.

Stalker: Spartan optimization for target shadowing missions which require tactical invisibility despite operating at an extremely close range to the target itself. The Nemesis armor mod allows users to target and track down previous attacking enemies, highlighting them on the armor’s passive sensors.

Expect to see Grifball and the Specialization unlocks the morning of Monday, Jan. 28 along with Episode 7 of Spartan Ops.

Future playlist updates will see the return of some playlists that were rotated out for tuning and fixes, multi-mode playlists and all new playlists such as Team Doubles.
