Halloween trick-or-treating activities in Fort Worth

Halloween takes place on Monday October 31st this year. Fort Worthians love to celebrate though and many places will be hosting events in the days and weeks leading up to All Hallow's Eve. Fort Worth Frugal Family Examiner has compiled a list of family-friendly events around town, many of which are free.

City events

Boo at the Zoo

  • Bring your wild bunch to the Fort Worth Zoo for games, entertainment, animal shows and trick-or-treating. Because the event takes place during the day, you'll also be able to visit all your favorite animals.
  • Date: Oct. 21-23 & 28-30
  • Time: noon to 5 p.m. each day
  • Cost: $3 per person, plus regular zoo admission ($12 adults, $9 children 3-12)

Treat Street

  • Radio Disney hosts this annual event at Stockyards Station with hayrides, a costume contest, pumpkin decorating, games, and trick-or-treating at businesses.
  • Date: Oct. 31
  • Time: 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Cost: free

Trails and Treats

  • The Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge will be hosting a special event with an educational program about nocturnal animals at and a hike along the trails for treats, along with other fun activities.
  • Date: Oct. 27
  • Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; program begins at 5:30, 6, and 6:30
  • Cost: free with paid park admission ($5 adults, $3 children 3-12)

Business events

Halloween Carnival for Kids

  • Kids can visit Central Market for a scavenger hunt, cookie decorating, cake walk, costume parade, and lots of prizes.
  • Date: Oct. 29
  • Time: 2 to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: free

Halloween Dress Rehearsal

  • Kids who dress in costume and attend this pre-Halloween event at the Disney Store will receive a special gift. Other activities include games, a parade, and a preview of Rapunzel's coronation.
  • Date: Oct. 21 & 22
  • Time: 4:30 & 6 p.m. on Friday; 10:30 a.m. & noon on Saturday
  • Cost: free

Geoffrey's Halloween Parade

  • Bring your costumed kiddo to Toys R Us to participate in a parade. He'll also receive a Sponge Bob Halloween bag and other goodies.
  • Date: Oct. 29
  • Time: every half-hour from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Cost: free

Michael's Halloween activities

  • Enjoy an activity each day leading up to Halloween. Tuesday make paper pumpkins, Wednesday decorate a visor, Thursday make a mask, Friday decorate a pot, Saturday enjoy an afternoon of festivities, and Sunday celebrate with Crayola.

Halloween Party and Customer Event

  • CVS is giving shoppers a treat! Each costumed child will receive a free gift pack with candy, toys, trick-or-treat safety items, and coupons. Plus there will be a free in-store photo shoot and each child will receive a 5x7 print.
  • Date: Oct. 23
  • Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: free

Kooky Spooky Bear Bash

  • Kids can visit Build-a-Bear Workshop at Ridgmar Mall in costume and with their bears (also in costume, if you like) for a free virtual gift and Quaker Chewy Smash Bar.
  • Date: Oct. 28-31
  • Time: business hours 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily; excluding Sunday, which is noon to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: free

Trick-or-treating at the mall

Ridgmar Mall

  • Date: Oct. 31
  • Time: 5:30 to 7 :30 p.m.
  • Restrictions: Children ages 12 and younger in costume
