It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a lot of us. Whether it’s the impending cosplay, binge-ing on baby snickers bars, or having a John Carpenter movie marathon, Halloween affords us the opportunity to get down with our bad selves.
But it’s also the time to rock (When is it not?), and a handful of local area bands will be celebrating the most grim of holidays in style. You and yours are invited to come along.
You may remember my article regarding the AFTA party being held at The Black Cat Collective (751 W. San Carlos Street) on Saturday night. Both San Jose’s own, The English Language and COLOR will be performing alongside two other California rock acts (more on that HERE). Cost is $9 - costumes are encouraged.
Then next Friday (Oct 25th), head to The Blank Club (44 S. Almaden Ave), as local alt-rock heroes, The Trims, join up with SF ind-rockers, Scissors for Lefty, and DJ Basura to take things well past the witching hour. The 21+ show begins at 9pm holding over until 1 am; cost is $10. Again, costumes are encouraged.
Finally on Saturday (Oct 26th), don’t forget Daydream Nation at San Pedro Square (87 San Pedro St.), where the late 90s/early 00s pop-punk quartet, Stunt Monkeys, are holding their annual reunion show. In support, anther of SJ's punk pioneers, The Odd Numbers, take the stage. As always, Daydream Nation is free and open to all ages.
So, celebrate the year's best holiday with local rock, or I'll personally haunt the sh*t outta you.
