Halloween is now the second largest retail holiday, with Christmas retaining the number one position. The National Retail Federation estimates that seven in 10 Americans will spend on average, $80, to celebrate Halloween. Of the about 36 percent of the 170 million Americans celebrating this Halloween, more than 36 percent will either host or attend a party. During the Halloween season, there are numerous parties scheduled in the Baltimore region.

The building which houses the 8X10 has seen a number of ventures within its walls. Beginning with the Dew Drop Inn, it next served as Joe's Organic Juice Bar, the Eight By Ten, in the 1980s, the Funkbox in 2002, and since 2005, the 8X10, owned by Brian Shupe and Abigail Janssens. Beginning at 8 p.m., Friday, October 25, a costume ball will be held. On Thursday, October 31, also begnning at 8 p.m., the Halloween Bash, featuring Freedom Enterprise is scheduled.

Ballyhoo! – Superheroes of the Inner Harbor Halloween Party

At 8 p.m., Friday, October 25, the Baltimore Soundstage will host Ballyhoo! – Superheroes of the Inner Harbor Halloween Party. Playing host to nationally-known music artists, ranging from neo soul to heavy metal, the venue provides an intimate, personal space. Considered to be one of the country's feel good party bands, Ballyhoos mixes rock, punk, pop and reggae. It features guitarist and lead singer, Howi Spangler; Donald “Big D” Spangler on drums; JR Gregory on bass; and Scott Vandrewy on keys and turntables. Passafire, a Savannah, Ga., rock group will also be performing.

A Halloween Bash dance will be getting underway at 7 p.m., Sunday, October 26, at the Bain Center, in Columbia. For adults and teens with developmental disabilities, the event will feature DJ Chris Andrews. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. A great place to socialize and have fun. The event is provided by Howard County.
YPAA Semi-Formal Masquerade

A semi-formal masked ball is being held at Mother's Federal Hill Grille, starting at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 2. Sponsored by the Young Professionals for Alzheimer's Awareness, this is the first such event held by the group. While masks and costumes are recommended, they are not required. The event admission fee includes an open bar for three hours, along with dancing, appetizers, contests and more.

The annual Halloween Pub Crawl, launches Friday, October 25, and continues on Saturday, beginning at noon, and ends on Sunday, October 31. Registration for the event is being operated again this year by the Point in Fells. With a number of bars participating in the three-day event, the Halloween Pub Crawl draws large crowds. Dress in costume and have a blast. Participating bars offer special drink prices during the event.
