Halloween has finally arrived. I can not count how many times I have been asked, " Is it Halloween yet?" I know my daughter is really excited to wear her Minnie Mouse costume.
Most children enjoy dressing up because they can experiment with fantasy and try out different roles like superheroes, television/ movie characters and grown up careers.
So tonight is the night they finally wear there costumes and trick or treating begins. This may bring your child through a mixture of emotions from excitement to uneasiness. Halloween is exciting because of the candy and fun. However there can be some uneasy feelings stirring within our children caused by strange sights, scary darkness and frightening sounds.
You may find your child may be afraid to trick or treat. Throughout the year we instruct them not to visit homes of people we do not know and not to talk to strangers. But tonight it is acceptable to go know to the door and ask for candy.
If this is a concern for you and your child you may want to trick or treat at friends and families homes, or try out a community or church party. New to the area we are going to Amazing Grace Fellowship's History of Heroes.
Whatever your plans are for the evening remember to be safe and have fun. Looks like it will be windy tonight so make sure to bring your jacket!
What is your child excited to be wearing tonight? Do you or your child have fears about Halloween? How will you be celebrating this scary sugar filled holiday? Let me know in the comments section below.
