You have all this makeup on and you have to take it off. Some of it is not even on your face. Some may not even be makeup. People go crazy when it comes to Halloween. They get creative with food coloring and kool-aid, and then, they realize, this has to come off.
Just like putting on makeup, you have to set aside time to take it off as well. If you think ahead, this will take no time at all, but not taking it off or doing more damage to your face by using harsh cleansers or scratching and scraping at your skin will just create more problems that easily avoidable.
However, if you didn't set aside time or just don't have the energy to follow a full makeup removal routine, bear with me, and pick one of the following options:
- Makeup removal wipes
- Oil-based cleansers or,
- Milk and honey
With makeup removal wipes you don’t even need water. You can keep them by your night stand and wipe your makeup off in bed. Depending on how much makeup you have on, be prepared to need more than one. Especially if you have a few layers of makeup on or any kind of prosthetic glue. And you can find them at any price point. Neutrogena, Philosophy, and M.A.C. all make their own.
Oil-based cleansers, or cleansers with oils in the formula are also great at removing makeup because they melt makeup and hydrate the skin. If you have never used oil-based cleansers, are prone to break-outs, or have had a bad experience in the past, this may not be the option for you. However, oil cleansing is a proven method and some swear by it. A good, gentle over the counter product that contains natural oils and is less likely to clog your pores is Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple.
Milk and honey are natural ingredients that are great for cleaning your skin without any harsh soaps that may cause damage. Just use any combination of the two (more milk for a more "cleansing feeling", or more honey for a mask) and rinse your face thoroughly.
The above options are gentle, one-step solutions, and are better alternatives than doing nothing at all. Use the correct products on your face, and its the difference between a great night out, and a breakout that lasted a week.
