Halloween is near, so time to decorate your home with jack o’ lanterns, ghosts and goblins. Whether you are planning a Halloween party or just want to enjoy some goodies for the scary holiday, below is a tender and delicate cookie recipe to try.
Halloween Decorated Cookies
- 1-1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 1 c. butter (softened)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 2-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
In large mixing bowl cream together sugar and butter until smooth; add egg and almond extract; beat until egg is mixed in. On wax paper sift together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture, stir until well combined. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Divide dough in half, roll to 3/16” thick on lightly floured board. Using jack o’ lantern cookie cutters or round cookie cutters, cut into desire shapes. Using spatula carefully transfer cookies to prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes or until a light delicate golden brown around the edges. Transfer to wire rack to cool.
Decorate cookies with orange frosting and/or orange and black sugar sprinkles or white frosting with candy corn sprinkled on top of cookies. Store cookies in tightly closed container.
