It's time for kids to get spooky in Riverside! Through Halloween, a local bookstore and several of the city's libraries will hold free Halloween-related events for children of all ages. From make-it-and-take-it crafts and encounters with out-of-this world creatures to movie nights and music programs, your neighborhood library has it all.

Books-R-Treats
Barnes and Noble at the Galleria at Tyler will hold a First 5 Riverside's Books-R-Treats book fair at 11 a.m., Oct. 29, 2011, at the store, 3485 Tyler St. The bookstore partners with First 5 Riverside for this event. Children of all ages can come in costume to hear fun stories and take part in a variety of giveaways (while supplies last). Books-R-Treats kicks off the Read Early, Read Aloud early literacy campaign sponsored by First 5 Riverside.
Costume Contest and Halloween Party
Woodcrest Branch of the Riverside County Library plays host to a children's Halloween party from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the library at 16625 Krameria Ave. Join the ghosts and goblins for a scary good time. Enjoy snacks, crafts, candy (of course!!) and a costume contest with prizes!
Spooktacular Halloween Party
The La Sierra Branch Library, 4600 La Sierra Avenue, will host a free Halloween party starting at 4 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2011. Children of all ages can come in costume, make a fun craft and receive some treats.
Remember, if your child is dressing up in costume, be sure to have nothing that will obstruct his or her vision or be too clumsy or awkward to walk in. The last thing your child wants is to not have fun at a Halloween event because his or her costume got in the way!
