Halloween is quickly approaching, so here's a quick breakdown of some of the can't miss events in Castle Rock.
Bring the kids and enjoy the fun family atmosphere at the October 24th Spooktacular festival at the Castle Rock Rec Center. The celebration runs from 2-4 pm, with games, bounce houses, arts and crafts, and much more. Kids are highly encouraged to wear their costumes.
Two of more unique events are the annual Pumpkinfest and Punkin' Chickin' festivals in the Meadows subdivision, which also take place on October 24th. From 9 am-12 pm, either enter or come watch the contest as participants build machines to see who can "chuck" a pumpkin the farthest! It is quite a sight to see! Then enjoy Pumpkinfest all afternoon and enjoy hayrides, pumpkin baking contests, scarecrow making classes, and lots of other family oriented events. Both events take place at The Grange in the Meadows.
Don 't bring the kids, at least the little ones, to the Castle of Terror! This haunted house takes place in the Town Fire Training Center, and is not for the faint of heart. This year will feature a Haunted Hollywood Theme. It is open on October 23, 34, 30, and 31, from 7-10 pm, with the $10 admission fee helping fund the Town's Police and Fire Explorers programs.
Head to Historic Downtown Castle Rock on the afternoon of October 30th for Trick or Treat Street, for music, pumpkin decorating, and of course a costume contest.. The festival will officially take place at Festival Park (Perry and 2nd Street) but the Downtown Merchants Assn encourages families to go trick or treating at all of the local businesses.
Those are just a few of the many wonderful events taking place in Castle Rock this Halloween season. Enjoy a safe, and fun, Halloween.
