Halloween is approaching and that means its time for some good treats, no tricks here. This is a very simple way to make some fun and tasty desserts for you and your special someone to enjoy. These cupcakes would also be great for a children's party.

What you need:

cupcake mix (plus all the ingredients that are required for the mix)

frosting

different colored gels (depends on the decorating you desire)

food coloring

candy corns

red hots candy

cupcake pans (Halloween shapes are ideal)

Step by step

  1. First you are going to mix up the cupcake batter following the instructions on the box.
  2. Grease your pans and pour your batter in to the pans. Do not over fill the pans.
  3. Bake the cupcakes until done. Let them cool down before decorating, to ensure your icing will not melt off.
  4. Decorate however you would like. My wife and I chose to make pumpkins, ghosts and spiderwebs. To do this you need to dye the icing with the food coloring to make your base colors. For the pumpkins we used orange base, then green gel for the stems, candy corns for the eyes and red gel for the mouths. The ghosts were done with white frosting and red hots for the eyes.

Couples Tip

Remember to have fun! Lick the batter out of the mixing bowl, decorate the cupcakes together and don't forget to enjoy the awesome taste of this ghoulish dessert.     Happy Halloween!
