When it comes to Halloween costumes for 2013, the ideas are endless with celebrities, superheroes, movie and TV stars always the rage. However, some top-trending searches have revealed what may be the most popular costume ideas for the coming holiday event this year. Among those leading the way are the "Duck Dynasty" costume, "Breaking Bad," controversial pop star Miley Cyrus, and the "What does the fox say" costume. Those are just four off the list, recently compiled by Google trend data.
The Huffington Post reported on Oct. 10 that there are ten costumes leading the way for "top trending costume searches" via Google Shopping's data. More than half of the list comes from movies or TV shows with the Minion costume ("Despicable Me 2"), the ever-popular Batman costume, the "Great Gatsby" dress costume and costumes from "Breaking Bad." There's also the Daenerys costume based on the popular character from "Game of Thrones," and the Uncle Si "Duck Dynasty" costume which sells for under $20 on popular sites including Amazon.com.
Several choices come from the world of music with bad girl Miley Cyrus among the popular options as well as Daft Punk. Both were featured on TV during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, with Daft Punk shown in shiny, futuristic helmet masks, while Miley Cyrus was shown in a lot less. The "What does the Fox say" costume is based upon the hit song by Ylvis, which apparently started as a joke.
Just one choice on the list isn't really a TV show or movie, but at the rate things go in Hollywood, it wouldn't be a stretch in the near future. The video game Minecraft has inspired many to want to dress up as "bit graphics-style" characters. It may very well be a lot of children wanting this particular costume for the upcoming "trick-or-treat" times on Halloween night.
It's important to mention the top choices on sale at Buy Costumes website which offers consumers tons of options. Most popular for women continues to be the all-black "Avengers Black Widow Elite" costume based on Scarlett Johansson's character in the Marvel film. For the guys, it's Uncle Si from "Duck Dynasty" right now.
The top choice for boys is a ninja costume, although Batman is only a few spots away. The top choice for girls is the Gypsy child costume, with peacock girl and Harry Potter right behind. Sophia the First has also been a popular choice with the younger females as their parents look to get them that costume they really want this year.
Adults and parents, what is your costume choice for Halloween 2013? If you have kids, what costume are they asking for the most?
