Halloween activities on Navy Pier open with Zombie March

Halloween activities open at Navy Pier on Friday, October 8, 2010 with an invasion of strange creatures, zombies, ghouls, the Carnival of Curiosities and more. Navy Pier Chicago, the most-visited attraction in the Midwest, offers a frighteningly good time for kids and adults. The weekend of fun begins with a Zombie March on Friday evening and continues with the Fear Haunted House, Carnival of Curiosities and Patch's Halloween Party for kids.

 Halloween is more than just a one day celebration at Navy Pier in Chicago. Halloween attractions and activities are offered from October 8 – 31, 2010, Navy Pier is the place to experience curious creatures and perhaps even scary sights… all meant to provide fall fun for everyone!

The Zombie March on Friday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. kicks off the Halloween adventure. Zombies gather at the gates of Navy Pier for the Zombie March down south Dock Street. The undead have come to visit their feared friends locked away inside The FEAR Haunted House at Navy Pier, located near Navy Pier’s Beer Garden. The Zombie March is a free event.

Larger and more terrifying than ever, The FEAR Haunted House at Navy Pier – voted the #1 haunted house by the users of Haunted House Chicago. The haunted house  has some new frights in store for teen and adult audiences. This year, the Captain has lost control of his evil cargo of crazed clowns and bizarre beasts. Can the Captain regain control before these creatures escape into Chicago’s communities? The FEAR opens Friday, October 8. Visiting hours for the fearless are Thursdays & Sundays from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m., and Fridays & Saturdays from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m., from October 8 – 31. Enter if you dare! (Tickets required for admission.) NEW this year and more suitable for children: A less fearful, LIGHTS-ON, family friendly experience of The FEAR Haunted House, Saturdays and Sundays ONLY from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., plus Columbus Day, Monday, October 11, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is a free event.

Navy Pier’s Carnival of Curiosities is a  scare-free, outdoor adventure that features an array of amazing, strange and mystical characters. Come to greet, meet and be entertained by amazing stunts, performances, faux fortune-telling and much more. The Carnival of Curiosities is a free event.

The Carnival of Curiosities is a free attraction and is the perfect place to capture keepsake Halloween photos, so bring your camera. Carnival of Curiosities  opens Saturday, October 9 and runs Saturdays from 12 p.m. – 9 p.m., Sundays 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Columbus Day, Monday, October 11, from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Stroller moms, daytime dads, toddlers and tweens are invited to create Halloween memories that will last a lifetime!

Patch's Halloween Costume Party is a new event that will take place  every Saturday in October at 11 a.m., on the Family Pavilion Stage. Kids 12 and under are encouraged to wear costumes to this free event, and enter a random drawing to win prizes, courtesy of Bubba Gumps Restaurant and Ahoy Chicago – the Navy Pier store.  Patch's  Halloween shows will be presented on Saturdays  at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
