When I was a young boy in a small town in Florida back in the last century I recall the traveling gospel and country music shows that used to travel around the country. I lived across the street from the school house and many of the shows were held in the auditorium of the school.
I wasn't allowed to attend them for several reasons, but I remember them well because it seemed that everyone there was having grand time. The music was loud, people were shouting and stomping their feet and the sound was captivating.
Many years after that I actually produced my own gospel show utilizing local church choirs from a number of local churches in the New Mexico city where I was on the board of an organization that needed a fund raising activity.
Now you can start off your week any Sunday with a House of Blues Gospel Brunch right here in Sin City at Mandalay Bay. That's right, I worked Sin City and Gospel Brunch into the same sentence. Well, we know the old Sin City reputation has faded and Las Vegas has become one of the finest family vacation centers in the world.
What you need to know:
Scheduled shows take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Sunday.
Tickets cost $50 for adults and $27.50 for children ages 11 and under.
Tickets are available through House of Blues box office, online at livenation.com or by calling 702.632.7600.
If you're not clapping, singing and stomping your feet you may be missing something with this experience. If it helps, be sure and mention "Allegiant" when you order and get $5. off each adult ticket.
Remember, the Gospel Brunch is a non-denominational participative celebration of gospel music. The all you can eat buffet will include lots of always changing Southern specialities along with carving stations and Bloody Mary and Mimosa bars.
