Oscar winning actress Halle Berry won the NAACP Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture on March 4, 2011. Halle Berry won the award for her work in "Frankie & Alice." The NAACP Image Awards recognize the accomplishments of people of color in arts and entertainment. The 42nd NAACP Image Awards were presented at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
Prince made a surprise appearance at the awards ceremony. The crowds cheers when Prince was on stage made the softspoken music legend difficult to hear. Prince presented the Outstanding Actress Award to Halle Berry, who seemed just as excited to get a hug from Prince as she was to receive the honor from NAACP.

Halle Berry made Academy Awards history as the first African-American actress to win an Oscar, for Monster Ball. Berry is frequently a favorite on the Red Carpet, for her stunning figure and fashion sense. Berry was also nomined for a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her work in "Frankie and Alice."
Frankie & Alice is described as a psychological thriller, based on a true story, about a woman with multiple personality disorder. Frankie Murdock (Halle Berry) is a woman with multiple personalities living in Los Angeles in the 1970s. The cast of Frankie & Alice includes Stellan Skarsgard (The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo), Phlicia Rashad (Cosby, For Colored Girls) and Chandra Wilson (Grey's Anatomy). The film was directed by Geoffrey Sax and filmed by Newton Thomas Sigel (Valkyrie, X-Men, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.)
