Halle Berry will play Storm in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

Ending weeks of speculation, your friendly neighborhood Fanboys Examiner can confirm that Halle Berry will reprise her role as Storm in Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Singer tweeted only moments ago that: "Couldn't be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal."

Berry confirmed her involvement to the English paper The Sun, who quotes her as saying: “I’m in. I think I’m in...I am excited. I love Storm. That’s one of my favourite characters that I’ve played. And people love that character as well.”

Deadline Hollywood also reports that the Oscar-winner will reprise the role.

Singer tweeted Saturday that French actor Omar Sy (“The Intouchables”) would also appear in the franchise installment.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is believed to be based on a popular plot arc from the comic book series, and will involve both key members of the recent, popular prequel/reboot “X-Men: First Class” and members of the original movies, including Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan. Hugh Jackman is also reportedly going to be appearing in his trademark Wolverine role, this time in more than a cameo capacity. The comic book plot line dealt with time travel and an alternate future in which mutants were interned in concentration camps.

Ellen Page is reportedly cast as Kitty Pryde, a key figure in the “Days of Future Past” comic book story.

Principal photography is scheduled to start next month. A July 18, 2014 release date is scheduled.
