Bryan Singer announced today that actress Halle Berry will return to the X-Men franchise for the upcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The X-Men director took to Twitter to confirm the rumors that have long been circulating:
Couldn't be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal.
Berry first played Ororo Munroe, aka Storm, in 2000's X-Men, followed by X2 in 2003 and X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. She was absent from X-Men Origins: Wolverine as well as the latest incarnation, X-Men: First Class.
Before the decision was officially confirmed by Singer, Berry discussed the film with HitFix, saying, "I love Storm and I'm happy I get to be a part of it this time."
Berry joins many returning X-Men alums, including Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen. The story will center on the younger mutants from X-Men: First Class traveling through time and engaging with their future selves.
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014.
