According to the Canadian Press, Calgary native Taylor Hall of the Edmonton Oilers was named the National Hockey League's second star for the week from December 2-8 on Monday.

Hall had four goals and two assists in three games played including a hat trick and a four point game as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Colorado Avalanche 8-2 on December 5. Also on December 7, Hall scored a dramatic goal with 11 seconds left in regulation to preserve a point for the Oilers in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Calgary Flames. In the three games, the Oilers went 1-1-1.

Jeff Skinner of the Carolina Hurricanes was named the NHL's first star, while Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks was named the NHL's third star.

Even though Hall, who plays both left wing and center, was honoured this week, the Oilers are still the worst team in the Western Conference with only 23 points in their first 31 games. Edmonton next hosts Skinner and the Carolina Hurricanes in their next game on Tuesday night.
