Hardcore Dragon*Con attendees have been planning their costumes for months. Tickets have been purchased, hotel rooms reserved, and yet the Labor Day weekend convention doesn't take place for several more months. But this Saturday, March 23, fans will get a brief reprieve from the torture of waiting at Halfway to Dragon*Con: Infestation 2 at The Shelter.
After the success of the first Infestation, there was no way the guys from CON*tourage could not host another event. Last year's event was packed with entertainment, music, and loads of fun. This "mini-con" really felt like Dragon*Con. (Of course it didn't hurt that The Shelter was chock full of cosplayers and die-hard Dragon*Con attendees.) However, this time their challenge is different: make it bigger and better than before. Looking at the Facebook event page, there is no doubt they will pull off this feat.
Hosted by CON*tourage and produced by MarksterCon, this Saturday marks the second annual Halfway to Dragon*Con party. Once again, The Shelter will be "infested" with stormtroopers, superheroes, pirates, vampires, men in kilts, and of course, zombies. Costumes/cosplay are highly encouraged, as this is a Dragon*Con theme event. There will also be a costume contest, so dress to impress. However, if you don't have a costume, don't worry. Make-up artists Stephanie Anderson and Antonio Tiggs will be on hand to "zombify" the humans. (Please tip the artists!)
It wouldn't be the con experience without the paparazzi. Featured photographers Trent Chau and Tobias Roybal will be set up to take posed photos, while roaming photographers (including the famously infamous PhotoGnome) capture the party experience. For even more photo fun, Pop Tab Photos will have their PhotoBOOF complete with backgrounds and props, and they offer on-site prints.
Infestation 2 will feature a DJ triple-threat: DJ Ghost, VJ Anthony, and five-time official Dragon*Con DJ Nemesis. These guys know how to work the crowd, so get ready for some killer sets. Cosplay queens and Dragon*Con dancers Angie Starr and Foxy Roulette will be Go-Go dancing all night long. Special guests Ghouella Deville and Stan the Zombie will be shuffling about, meeting fans and taking pictures.
Halfway to Dragon*Con: Infestation 2 will take place this Saturday, March 23 at The Shelter. The Shelter is located at 2101 Tula St. NW 30309, where there is plenty of free parking. The cover for Infestation is $10 in costume or $15 without for 21 and up. Doors open at 9 p.m. and close at 3 a.m.
