Forza Horizon was a smash-hit for a lot of players, and one element of the game that was particularly rewarding was Barn Finds. Forza Horizon 2 was announced a few months back and we can only assume Barn Finds will return, but in what capacity?
It's a natural thing for games to do these days, find out a feature of a game works and then embellish upon it. Forza Horizon 2 is doing that with Barn Finds. Ralph Fulton, who is the creative director on Forza Horizon 2, discussed the added depth or at least quantity they've brought to the Barn Finds system.
"People went mad for Barn Finds [in Forza Horizon], which is really cool. We've absolutely brought [Barn Finds] in Horizon 2. The more open-world means some of them might be more difficult to find. You're really going to have to put in the work to discover them, but it will be worth it.
"In Forza Horizon 2 more than half of the cars that you'll find in barns in the game have never been seen before in the Forza franchise. There [will be] an extra special thrill [when you] open that barn door, seeing what you've discovered and then restoring the car to new," Fulton said.
If you haven't played the first Forza Horizon, go do that now. Barn Finds was a wonder-filled system that left you with such a satisfying feeling. Rewarding players for exploring a world and being creative is nearly paramount in an open-world game. Playground Games knew Barn Finds did just that for players, so they're smart to bring it back in Forza Horizon 2.
It's also interesting to note that over half of the cars in Forza Horizon 2 are inside of Barn Finds. We know there will be over 200 cars at launch, so ya, get ready to drive a lot. Not only will it be a fun activity for players, but it's a tangible component of exploration in the game. Forza Horizon 2 will be available Sept. 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
