‘Half-pint’ Melissa Gilbert engaged to ‘Thirtysomething’ Timothy Busfield

“Little House on the Prairie” actress Melissa Gilbert is engaged to “Thirtsomething” and “West Wing” actor Timothy Busfield, PEOPLE reported on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Gilbert, 48, who played Laura Ingalls on “Little House on the Prairie,” is the mother of two and has been married to Bo Brinkman, whom she divorced in 1992, and Bruce Boxleitner, whom she divorced in 2011. Busfield, 55, a father of three, has been married to Radha Delmarter and Jenny Merwin.

A representative for the couple said:

“They got engaged over the holidays. They’ve known each other for quite some time, as their paths have crossed off-and-on over the past 20 years. They are engaged and both are incredibly happy.”

The happy couple celebrated their engagement at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills on Jan. 28.

After her role on “Little House on the Prairie” ended Gilbert went on to star in several made-for-television movies based on Danielle Steele novels. Busfield played the role of Poindexter in the 1980s movie “Revenge of the Nerds.”
