Gamers grab your brown bags and try to keep calm. Half-Life 3 has just revealed itself on Gamescom’s official press list of games.

Earlier today Gamescom released their official press list of all games being showcased at the convention. Listed among many expected titles was Valve’s ridiculously hyped/anticipated FPS Half-Life 3 along with Electronic Arts’ next iteration in the Dragon Age series.
To say that this announcement excites gamers would be a dramatic understatement. If there’s been one game players have been clamoring for any bit of information it is indeed Gordon Freeman’s next journey.
But was this all a fluke?
In a recent round of emails the Gamescom staff has made a point of explaining that the appearance of both Half-Life 3 and Dragon Age 3 was simply a “mistake”. It’s kind of hard doubting the very people that run the show, because they are most likely in the know, but could this claim be made simply for saving face?
After all, it’s kind of hard to mistype Half-Life 3 or Dragon Age 3 without hitting that backspace key once someone's mistake is realized. Perhaps this isn’t some Freudian slip; maybe the Gamescom staff let loose some information they probably shouldn't have.
Either way, we’ll know very soon. Gamescom is set to officially kick off tomorrow.
Gamers, keep those brown bags ready…just in case.
