Haley & Michaels at 12th & Porter

Shannon Haley was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and studied opera at UCLA. After graduating, she spent time in L.A., working on her music as a solo artist. But as she started writing more and more, she also discovered the world of co-writing with other like-minded artists. This brought her out to Nashville on frequent visits. A guitar player she worked with in California introduced Haley to Ryan Michaels – another former Bay Area kid who was working hard as a singer/songwriter in Nashville.

Haley and Michaels started writing songs together in 2011. They discovered that they had many similar musical influences. On a trip out to L.A., Michaels sang with Haley at one of her gigs. She came out to sing at his show. They thought they worked well together, so they booked an acoustic show together in San Francisco. They were having fun and getting good feedback from the audiences, so they thought they would try writing an actual duet to perform together.

Since then, Haley & Michaels have been working as a duo. Their first song written for both of them, The Price I Pay, will also be the first single released from their upcoming album. The video is being released at the end of this month.

The album is almost complete, but the duo wants to add a few newer tracks to it… hopefully, it will be out this summer.

Shannon Haley made the move out to Nashville in 2012, and the duo played a few shows here last year. They spent the last month of the year out in California, building an audience there. Now they’re back in town and wanting to build a community of fans here. That’s why they are doing a residency at 12th & Porter this month, with a free show each week.

There are two shows left – on Thursday, February 21 and Thursday, February 28 – and there is no cover for either show.
