We all have been touched by the devastating news footage, pictures of the disaster and heartfelt cries from people searching for family and loved ones in Haiti.
In this midst of this tragedy, many Americans want to offer their prayers, donations and support. But many are skeptical, especially after Katrina of scam organizations misusing donations and the slow government response. According to published reports from WFAA and BET, it has been verified that two organizations are accepting donations via text. To donate $10 to the American Red Cross, text Haiti to 90999 and the amount will be added to your next phone bill.

President Barack Obama has promised an all-out rescue and humanitarian effort and American officials said they were responding with ships, helicopters, transport planes and a 2,000-member Marine unit, as well as civilian emergency teams from across the U.S. The President has shown a swift and united response with the United Stares as the leader.
This effort must be international and we all must do our part to support and rebuild, whether it’s a prayer,donating $5 or volunteering our time.
