Haiti's 7.0 earthquake has left thousands dead, and hundreds of thousands homeless. Pat Robertson blames Haiti's "pact with the devil" supposedly made in 1791. It has been said that the slaves got together and offered their lives to the devil if the devil would release them from the French oppression. Haitian Pastor Jean R. Gelin, Ph.D studied the topic of the supposed Haitian pact with the devil. It has been said that the origin of the country is based on this pact with the devil and the revolution which followed. Dr. Gelin's studies found no historical basis for this story. Yet, the story has been cycled through evangelical Christian circles for decades.
Pat Robertson's claim that Haiti is cursed with poverty because of this pact brought a firestorm of response. It became the second most popular subject on Twitter shortly after it was made public. Most responses were highly critical of Pat Robertson.
Jeff Gentry, pastor at The Gathering in Salem, MA responded to Pat Robertson's comments, "anyone quoting Satan verbatim has a screw loose." Referring to Robertson's comment that neighboring Dominican Republic was much better off as evidence for Haiti's curse Gentry says, "anyone taking Missions 101 knows that the DR is poor. It is the 4th poorest country in the Western Hemisphere." Pastor Gentry believes that there is only a small number of evangelicals who follow this theology of natural disaster being evidence of God's curse upon people as Robertson teaches. The Gathering will be taking a special offering for relief in Haiti during their services this Sunday.
Meanwhile Boston.com lists local organizations helping to send relief or offering prayer services. The Salvation Army as always was one of the first on the ground. They have service centers in Port-au-Prince, and donations can be given through their website.
Without historical records concerning a "pact with the devil" it appears that this story of God's curse on Haiti is nothing more than terrible slander. It steals attention from the greater story of human tragedy and the need to respond with charity.

Many of these communist Jews from Russia and other European countries, who migrated to Israel, took with them the Socialist/Communist ideas of Karl Marx. With the help of American Bolshevik Jews, they were able to take control of Israel and impose the Socialist/Communist plans of Karl Marx.
Running parallel to the Bolshevik movement was the Zionist movement, which had basically the same goals - world domination. At some point after the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, the Bolsheviks and Zionists meshed together and became one. They are now commonly referred to as Zionists.

Many Ashkenazic Jews, the artificial Jews who chose Judaism and who apparently follow the most evil parts of the Talmud, experienced a roller-coaster existence in Europe. Their unfair Talmudic practices, especially in the area of economics, enabled them to reach high positions of power.
Once in power, they would unwisely abuse this power. This would arouse the ire of the Gentiles. Since Gentiles were larger in numbers, they took harsh action against all Jews. Many times these Jews were forced to leave a country. One must question, "Was this persecution - or justice?"

I join the Gathering in their prayers for the Hatian people, and hope that, in its own way Robertson's lunacy will convince more people to give. Sometimes God CAN work through terrible things-- though Robertson and I aren't in agreement on our subjects. :P
