Hailey Owens: Read search warrant, child pornography in Craig Wood’s home

Craig Wood has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed, criminal intent in the Feb. 18, 2014, murder of 10-year-old Hailey Owens. Now, search warrant documents show that child pornography has been found in his home. Wood is the only suspect in the murder of Owens as eyewitnesses watched him abduct the girl and her deceased body was located in a storage bin in his basement less than 24 hours later. Still, Wood’s attorney indicates his client will enter a plea of not guilty during his arraignment.

It is unclear whether the prosecutor will update Owens’ charges to include child pornography, or sexual assault, should an autopsy confirm Wood perpetrated a sexual attack on the young victim. It is unclear how much physical evidence will be recovered as by the time investigators obtained a search warrant and entered Wood’s basement, rooms had been cleaned with bleach. A Missouri laundromat has also been deemed a crime scene as reports indicate Wood brought items to be cleaned. A mattress and pillow were part of the items retrieved during the search warrant’s execution.
