The Harrisburg Area Homeschoolers Association is getting ready for their annual Back to School Fair and Book Sale. This is a great way for new (or prospective) homeschoolers to get an idea of what is available to the local homeschool community, and to see and touch a huge variety of curriculum and learning tools. Veteran homeschoolers will appreciate the chance to learn about what's new, sign-up for various activities and pick up curriculum at great prices.
The Back to School fair will provide an "opportunity to browse through tables filled with information relevant to the homeschooling journey. You will receive the opportunity to talk with vendors face to face - answering questions and sharing your information. Some examples of the types of vendors to be on hand include: homeschool evaluators, co-ops, private tutors, cyber charter schools, field trip destinations, curriculum companies, options for secondary education, diploma programs, art schools, musical instructors, and much much more," according to Jamey McClintock, HAHA president.
Running concurrently will be the Book Sale. Many moms will be there selling the curriculum, classic books, manipulatives and games that they are no longer using. The Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange will also be on hand with a variety of discounted new and used curricula.
The HAHA staff will be on hand to renew memberships at the Fair. Admission to the event is $1 per person. Go to the HAHA website to sign up as a vendor, book seller or attendee (not required).
