The New Mexico baseball team battled back for a 9-6 victory over host Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday.

Second baseman Sam Haggerty went 3-for-6 with a home run and a career-high five RBI, while right fielder Chase Harris was 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI for UNM (23-11-1).

The Lobos trailed 6-5 in the seventh inning when pinch hitter Kirby McGuire drew a leadoff walk. Jared Holley singled with one out and Aaron Siple then walked to load the bases.

Danny Collier grounded out to second base, but it was enough to drive in McGuire and make it 6-6. Haggerty then singled up the middle to drive in Holley and Siple and put UNM ahead for good.

The Lobos tacked on another run in the ninth before turning to Victor Sanchez for the final three outs. He retired the Lumberjacks (15-16) in order for his fourth save.

Taylor Duree (2-0) earned the win with a scoreless sixth inning.

The Lobos and Lumberjacks moved Wednesday's second game to 9 a.m. to help with UNM's travel schedule. The Lobos will return home Friday at 6 p.m. to open a three-game Mountain West series versus Fresno State.
