Year after year, Paris hosts some of the world’s most renowned fashion designers in a week long showcase where style dreams (and sometimes nightmares) come true-- the one and only Paris Fashion Week. It comes as no surprise that global phenomenon and fashion franchise, H&M, made the leap to join the “big leagues” this year. Known for their versatile and on-the-pulse designs, and for their high-profile designer collaborations, H&M has been shaking up households (and wardrobes) since their establishment nearly 70 years ago. While they’ve recently partnered with iconic names such as Lanvin and Versace, H&M chose to instead showcase their house label for the runway show.
Presented in the Musée Rodin (Paris), the runway show consisted of a specially constructed set that reflected a glamorous Parisian apartment, straight from the 70s. This created the ideal backdrop for clothes that were an interesting hybrid of grandeur meets garage-band chíc. While a wool jacket grounded the collection, staple pieces like a double-breasted leather jacket, exaggerated tails, and an open-backed sequin dress brought an attitude of rebellion and entitlement.
While we’ll have to wait to see if the collection caught the attention of the masses until its debut in September, the show certainly attracted some high-profile celebrities. The impressive front row included Chloe Moretz, Cara Delevingne, and Emma Roberts who shared, “I loved the fashion show, and I love H&M. I wear them all the time. It’s so wearable and easy to mix. The show was so cool.” And it’s that very since of cool that has consistently set H&M apart from competing retailers for so long. From the streets, to the runway, and back again, H&M has once more left an impressive mark on the fashion industry.
