TLC's second season of Gypsy Sisters premiered on Thursday night with nothing less than another explosive fight, this time between self-proclaimed matriarch Nettie Stanley and her cousin Kayla, and instigated by none other than Mellie Stanley. Season 2 promises more family drama, more fights and more ridiculous antics by the close-knit Gypsy family from West Virginia.
The show begins with seven-month pregnant Hellie Mellie's release from jail wherein she mentions that her and her baby's daddy Robbie are finished. It's not long before Mellie receives a phone call from her own father, whom she has never met, and decides to plan a meeting between the two and brings along sister Nettie for support.
Meanwhile, Laura from season one leaves with husband Gus to work in North Carolina for the summer, while Kayla's sister Annie has moved in with Kayla's family and their cousin Sheena also arrives to stay for the summer to get some quality girl time while working things out with her own husband.
While driving to meet Mellie's father for the first time, trouble starts brewing between unknown Stanley sister Tanya and Kayla as accusations are thrown about teenage girl gossip. Never one to shy away from drama, Nettie takes it upon herself to confront Kayla over the phone (via Mellie, of course) about the issue and it's decided the two will fight it out. The visit with Mellie's dad is forgotten as the sisters head to the fighting ground.

Kayla, along with Annie, Sheena and her young daughters in tow, drive to Tanya's place where a large group of the Stanleys have congregated to fight. Kayla bolts out of the truck door and runs towards Nettie, who quickly grabs Kayla by the hair and puts her on the ground while the rest of the Stanleys, men included at this point, circle around the two. While perched on top of Kayla, Nettie does nothing much more than grabbing her face and twisting it around as Kayla screams to be let up.
Eventually Kayla is released and another fight ensues between a previously unseen girl named Chicken and newcomer Sheena begins. Amusingly nothing more than words and a few unfounded leg kicks are thrown as Kayla and her crew make it back to the truck to get away from the mass of Stanleys. Before they can leave, however, the Stanley girls attack Sheena and Kayla, who is stuck in between her cousin and the fighting Stanleys.
After finally leaving the scene, both groups of women go back and forth discussing the fight and Kayla declares Mellie as "two-faced" and vows to never forgive Nettie for the altercation, while Nettie is almost in tears as she tells cameras that she "lost it" and just had to hurt her because of the words exchanged between the two before the fight.
Mellie does eventually meet her dad, who sweetly brings her a small gift for her unborn baby, but Mellie quickly tells Nettie that she's tired and is clearly ready to get out of there.
By the end of the episode another newcomer shows up in the form of another Stanley sister, Joann. Seemingly quite a bit different than what we know about Nettie and Mellie, this girl seems to genuinely want to help patch things up between the family and to work out the issues with Nettie and Kayla. Time will tell if Joann is your typical Stanley sister or if she's the most normal one with the Stanley name, essentially the real "black sheep" of the family, a name Mellie oddly calls herself.
