Gyasi Ross featured at Red Devil Open Mic January 8th

For the first Red Devil Open Mic of the year, The Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco, will feature local talent Gyasi Ross with a string trio. Gyasi (pronounced Jah-See) Ross, a guitarist and singer/songwriter, who has a Hip Hop inspired meets John Mayer/The Roots set will perform with a local string trio: Zack Parkes on bass, Maria Myrick on violin, and Peter Pearson on the cello. This will be their second live performance together after recently performing at Cafe Du Nord for SF Cares: A Hurricane Sandy Benefit on January 5th which raised donations for the American Red Cross. Red Devil house drummer, Trent Boeschen, will join the acts for the night.

Ross released his first solo album, "By Any Means" in 2011, which is available online at CD Baby, Amazon and Bandcamp. Ross won the award for "Best Song" from West Coast Songwriters for, "Doing Fine" in 2012. He has also opened for Brett Dennen, and played with hop-hop legend Denizen Kane of the Typical Cats. Ross grew up in Pasadena, CA and attended San Francisco State University.

Zack Parkes studied at San Francisco State University. Maria Myrick and Peter Pearson both have degrees in music and are continuing their graduate studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

The Red Devil Lounge hosts a weekly Open Mic every Tuesday night with the locally renowned KC Turner, who hosts a myriad of San Francisco Bay Area events and showcasing local music under "KC Turner Presents".

Sign-ups for the Red Devil Open Mic start at 7pm, show starts at 7:20pm and Gyasi Ross will perform at 9pm. All genres of music welcomed for the open mic. $2.
