Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow made her live singing debut on the CMA Country Music Awards on November 10, 2010. The awards ceremony, which took place n Nashville, Tennessee, was televised live on ABC.
Country music may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Paltrow, known more for elegance and haute couture style, but she acquitted herself admirably. Gwyneth Paltrow sang Country Strong, the song from he upcoming film of the same name.
Paltrow, strumming an acoustic guitar, was accompanied by Country star Vince Gill. Her voice had the traditional country twang. She did not match the luster of Carrie Underwood, or the effervescence of Miranda Lambert, but for a live singing debut it was a terrific job.
Country Strong is not Gwyneth Paltrow's first music-themed film. Paltrow starred in the karaoke themed movie Duets in 2000. Paltrow won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Shakespeare in Love (1998).
Gwyneth Paltrow is married to Coldplay musician Chris Martin. The couple has two children.
