Postpartum depression affects between 5-25% of all women after childbirth and celebrities are not excluded from this. Gwyneth Paltrow suffered from this after the birth of her second child, son Moses. Symptoms of post partum depression are extreme sadness, fatigue, changes in sleep patterns and changes in libido. The Cleveland Clinic has a checklist of signs and symptoms of postpartum depression.

According to an article by Shari Weiss, New York Daily News Writer:

"Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, with whom she has 6-year-old daughter Apple and 4-year-old son Moses with, said she "felt like a zombie" after her son's birth in 2006.

"I couldn't access my heart. I couldn't access my emotions. I couldn't connect. It was terrible. It was the exact opposite of what had happened when Apple was born. With her, I was on cloud nine," the 38-year-old explained to the magazine. "I couldn't believe it wasn't the same [with Moses]. I just thought it meant I was a terrible mother and a terrible person."

With Martin's help, Paltrow realized she needed professional therapy to work through her feelings."
