Gwyneth Paltrow's elimination diet: No wheat, meat, sugar for her or kids

For decades, celebrity diets have included elimination diets, such as no carbohydrates or no sugar and white flour. Now in keeping with that tradition, Gwyneth Paltrow has penned a new cookbook that proclaims she shares her elimination diet (no wheat, sugar or meat) with her entire family, leaving the kids in a deprived-of-Twinkies state. Her second cookbook, "It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great" (click here for details) offers 185 "restorative" dishes free of dairy, eggs, sugar, wheat, soy, alcohol, caffeine and various other "evils." And although Gwyneth claims to have boosted her energy and enhanced her figure with this elimination diet, she admits that her children sometimes feel hungry on the low-carb, gluten-free diet, according to USA Today on March 14.

"Sometimes when my family is not eating pasta, bread or processed grains … we’re left with that specific hunger that comes with avoiding carbs," Gwyneth confessed, reported Us Weekly on March 13. "Every single nutritionist, doctor and health-conscious person I have ever come across...seems to concur that [gluten] is tough on the system and many of us are at best intolerant of it and at worst allergic to it," added Gwyneth.

On "The View" March 13, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, author of "Deliciously G-Free: Food So Flavorful They'll Never Believe It's Gluten-Free" (click here to get it now) defended Gwyneth's plan, noting that her own gluten-free diet does not leave her family feeling deprived. What do you think? Should Gwyneth give her kids white bread and Twinkies? Post your views below.
