With two-thirds of the 2013 GHSA football regular season schedule completed, there are three remaining Gwinnett teams that are yet to suffer their first loss. North Gwinnett (6-0, 4-0) sits atop Class AAAAAA, Region 7, Archer (7-0, 5-0) is alone at the top in Region 8 and Buford (6-0, 3-0) is at the top of Region 7-Class AAA. Collins Hill (5-1, 3-1) was undefeated going into Friday’s action, but Norcross (5-2, 4-1) pitched a shutout to tighten the region even more.
AAAAAA Region 7 Recap
Norcross was strong on both sides of the ball as they handed Collins Hill their first loss this season. Both teams now have a loss in region, but the Eagles trail the Blue Devils by a half game.
Mill Creek delivered their third outstanding game against a top team in the region, but again came away with a loss, this time to North Gwinnett, the No. 1 team in the state.
Mountain View @ Peachtree Ridge
Peachtree Ridge (6-1, 4-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season the week before at the hands of Collins Hill to beat Mountain View (1-5, 1-3), 38-13. After an even first half that ended with the Lions holding a 14-13 advantage, Peachtree Ridge put 21 points on the board in the third quarter to put it out of reach. Jordan Ellis racked up 174 yards on 23 carries for the Lions to lead all rushers, while Chance Thrasher was 21 for 29 with 203 yards and a TD in the Ridge win.
Habersham Central @ Meadowcreek
In a game between teams with a combined season mark of 0-11, Meadowcreek (0-5, 0-3) came out on top of Habersham Central (0-6, 0-4), 21-17. The Mustangs matched their season total in points in the homecoming victory, as well as breaking their 53-game losing streak that dated back to September 2008.

Central Gwinnett @ Archer
Archer (7-0, 5-0) joined North Gwinnett as the last two Gwinnett county unbeatens by downing Central (2-4, 2-2) by three touchdowns, 41-20. The Tigers jumped out to a 20-7 halftime advantage and were never threatened by the Knights, outscoring them 21-6 over the final 24 minutes of play.
Berkmar @ Grayson
Grayson (4-3, 4-1) was in control of this one from the beginning and sailed to a 37-7 victory over Berkmar (3-3, 1-3) after opening up a 27-0 halftime lead.
Shiloh @ Brookwood
After a scoreless first half, Brookwood (2-4, 2-2) scored 20 unanswered points against Shiloh (3-4, 1-4) to win their second game of the season, 20-7. With four region losses, the Generals are now playing for pride, and look to be going through the motions after opening the season with two blowout wins in their first three games.
Dacula @ Parkview
Parkview (1-5, 1-3) picked up their first win of the season by beating Dacula (3-4, 3-2) in a tight one, 28-21.
Buford (6-0, 3-0) rolled over White County (4-2, 2-1), 42-6, in a Region 7-Class AAA contest that pitted the top two teams in the region. The Wolves were dominant and have now outscored their opponents 302-27 this season.
In a Region 8-Class AAAA matchup, Lanier (4-2, 1-2) surprisingly hammered Eastside (3-3, 1-2) by 30 points, 40-10, to pick up their first region W.
After going 3-0 in non-county games, Gwinnett teams are now 14-5 against out of county teams this season.
Duluth (1-5, 1-3) and South (2-4, 1-3) did not play last week.
After a 6-4 week, Examiner is now 50-17 in game projections for the season.
Which of The Big Four in Region 7 (North Gwinnett, Norcross, Collins Hill and Peachtree Ridge) has the most success against the other three will win the region.
After eight weeks of play, there have been three games between the Big Four, and so far North Gwinnett is 1-0, Collins Hill and Norcross are each 1-1 and Peachtree Ridge is 0-1. October 25th will see North Gwinnett play Collins Hill and Norcross take on Peachtree Ridge in the next battles between the Big Four.
